Foreign nationals who are married to a Namibian citizen may apply for a spousal visa. The holder hereof may qualify for Namibian citizenship if they have been married to the Namibian citizen for 10 years and have been residing in Namibia 10 years. This is applicable unless otherwise stated by the Namibian authorities when the spousal visa was granted. Once a marriage has been in effect 10 years, and the spouse has been in Namibia for 10 years then citizenship can be applied for.

Accompanying spouses for employment permit holders must apply for spousal visas. In such instances, the spousal visa’s validity period is tied to the validity of the employment permit.
